Special leave policy - school staff
This policy outlines when and how special leave may be granted for personal emergencies or unforeseen circumstances. It allows up to one working week of paid leave and up to three weeks of unpaid leave per school year, with additional leave possible in exceptional cases following consultation with the Chair of Governors. The policy includes Statutory Parental Bereavement Leave, procedures for requesting leave, and pension implications for unpaid leave. A detailed appendix offers guidance for headteachers on consistent decision-making across various scenarios, such as bereavement, domestic emergencies, religious observances, and personal commitments.
