    This policy outlines the Council's approach to granting time off for employees dealing with personal emergencies or unforeseen circumstances. It applies to all employees and allows for up to one working week of paid leave and up to three weeks of unpaid leave per year, subject to Managerial approval. Leave may be granted for issues involving dependants, acute domestic distress, or bereavement.

    This policy includes Statutory Parental Bereavement Leave which provides two weeks of paid leave for eligible employees.

    Managers are expected to handle requests sensitively and consistently.
