Career Break Policy
This policy allows eligible employees with at least one year of continuous service to request an unpaid break from work for personal reasons such as study, travel, or family responsibilities. Career breaks can last from three months to one year and are granted at the Council's discretion based on operational needs and other factors. While on a break, employees retain continuity of service but forgo pay and most contractual benefits. The policy outlines application procedures, the impact on pensions and benefits, and the process for returning to work.
