Attracting a modern workforce:

Supporting employees who are carers

Description

The aim of the forum was to:

  • develop our understanding of issues facing employees who are carers
  • promote existing resources
  • develop our thinking about what we can do differently in the future to support our vision, ‘Your East Riding, Where Everyone Matters’.

We heard from Kat Wilson, Head of Employers for Carers about the support and resources they can provide if you’re a carer or if you’re a manager of a carer. You can access these resources by registering at Employers for Carers Digital and using our unique membership number: EFC2601. We also heard from Elaine Holtby, the East Riding carers support service team manager about the services they offer to carers.

We piloted a new format for the forum to enable it to be more interactive and enabling the use of break out rooms to consider different topics. Feedback from the session included:

  • Thank you so much for doing this. It’s a relief to know that help, advice and support will be there when needed, as combining caring with work and knowing what services I can access has been a big worry.
  • Thank you so much everyone the session has been so informative and engaging.
  • Thank you - brilliant and really helpful.
