Request to recruit to a vacancy
Before you begin a recruitment process, you must get approval to advertise the vacancy. This includes temporary and casual roles, unless the role has already been agreed to be exempt. A request to recruit form must be completed and agreed to confirm that the role is needed and essential for your service.
If the request is:
- agreed, comments will be added to the form to support your request. Your director must sign off the form and then it should be passed to people services and finance for further comments before a recruitment panel makes the final decision.
- not agreed, it will not progress any further and you will be unable to continue with the recruitment process.
To submit a request, download and complete the form below and email it to your director.
Readvertise a role
You do not need to submit a new form if:
- there are no applications after the initial advert
- a preferred candidate withdraws before their start date.
You can readvertise the role using the existing approval form.
New vacancies
If a vacancy arises for the same role during the appointment process, or after an appointment has been made, you need to submit a new request. This counts as a new vacancy.
Multiple positions
You need to complete a separate form for each job role you would like to recruit to.
If you are recruiting to more than one position for the same job, you can use one form but make sure you add the correct number of vacancies to the form.
