On this page:

    Introduction

The Data Protection Act 2018 protects the confidentiality of any personal data we have about someone and prevents it from being used for anything other than the reason it was collected. It covers information we store both electronically, or as a physical file.

As a member of staff you need make sure you understand Data Protection Act 2018, and be aware of the implications that the act has on the way the council conducts its business.

    Data protection policy and guidance

The council has to process personal information about people it works with to operate effectively. This includes:

    • members of the public
    • current and past employees
    • clients and customers
    • suppliers.

Our data protection policy is a statement that sets out how we protect personal data to comply with data protection legislation.
