    Our translation services can help you communicate with a range of people, including those who are:

    • unable to speak English - you can request a translation, desktop publishing, or transcription
    • blind or have a visual impairment - you can get content translated into braille, large print, easy read, or audio
    • d/Deaf or have hearing difficulties - you can request a transcription.

    This guidance will help you to select the most suitable service(s) for your customer’s needs, and follow the correct process for requesting translation services.

    Before you start

    Follow these steps to access translation services.

    You can choose from a variety of translation services. Check when each service should be used so you can pick the best option for the situation and make sure it meets the needs of your customer.

    2: Check with the budget holder

    Unless your customer is a member of a resettlement programme, the cost of any translation services will be taken from your service area’s budget.

    If you need to book a translation service make sure you:

    • inform the budget holder
    • know the invoice code for your service area.
