Introduction
This guidance will help you if you have lost your badge, want to borrow a temporary one, have a badge to return, or need your badge reactivated.
Lost badges
You must tell us immediately if you lose your ID badge. Follow these steps:
1Contact the document and data processing team
To report a lost badge:
In your email include:
- your full name
- job title.
2What happens next
The document and data processing team will arrange for your badge to be deactivated.
You will need to request a replacement badge. If you need access to a corporate building in the meantime, you may be able to get a temporary badge.
Temporary badges
Each directorate has an admin representative who keeps a stock of badges that they can issue on a temporary basis.
You can find the names and contact details of the directorate representatives in the list below.
Reactivate an ID badge
If you have not used your ID badge to access a corporate building within the last 12-months, your access will have been suspended. This is a security feature.
1Contact the document and data processing team
To request for your badge to be reactivated, you can:
Include in your email the:
- last five digits of your ID badge number (found on the back of the badge)
- date you are returning to the office.
2What happens next
Once the request has been received the badge will be reactivated and your previous access will be restored.
Return or destroy an ID badge
Follow these steps if one of the following applies. You:
- have received a replacement ID badge, and you need to let us know about your old badge
- are leaving the council and were unable to pass your ID badge to your line manager during your exit interview
- are a manager let us know you are in possession of a team member’s ID badge.
1Return or destroy the badge
If you work in County Hall, you can return your ID badge in person to a member of the document and data processing team in room BG19.
Alternatively, you will need to destroy the old badge by cutting it up and contacting the document and data processing team to confirm this, if you:
- have a replacement badge
- are a line manager and have your team member’s badge.
