What you’ll be expected to do
As a champion you are expected to:
- have a good knowledge of radicalisation, extremism and the Prevent programme
- be the point of contact for your team or department so you can share your knowledge, cascade relevant information and answer any questions.
How you’ll train for the role
To help you to develop your understanding of radicalisation, extremism and the Prevent programme, we will:
- provide you with any relevant Prevent training or learning opportunities
- give you a list of resources so you can research and understand the topic better
- send you regular newsletters to keep you up to date with the latest guidance
- invite you to attend face-to-face or virtual briefings.
You’ll receive information from the following organisations:
- Counter Terrorism Police North East
- Humberside Police
- the council.
Apply to be a Prevent champion
Follow these steps to apply to become a Prevent champion:
1Talk to your line manager
If you are interested in becoming a Prevent champion, please discuss this with your line manager. They will need to confirm they are happy for you to attend occasional training and briefings during work time.
