Vision and values:

2.Our values and behaviours

On this page:

    Introduction

We all have values and beliefs that form the way we think and interact with others. They are influenced by factors such as:

    • how we are brought up
    • our culture
    • faith
    • our education
    • the media.

Everyone is entitled to their own values and beliefs, but in addition, our council values and behaviours will guide you to understand how you can work with your colleagues, our partners, residents and communities to achieve the council’s vision.

    Our values

Values, on a personal level, influence the way we think and how we behave and interact with others.

At the council, our values provide you with accepted best practices on how you should think, behave and interact with others as a council employee.

    • Quality

We work together to provide the best services possible.

    • Pride

We are proud of what we do and we positively embrace change.

    • Respect

We treat people fairly and are open, honest and lead by example.

Having this set of values is important as they help each of us to:

    • contribute to a positive working environment
    • foster good working relationships
    • do our absolute best for the community we support.

    Our behaviours

Behaviours are the actions that we take to put our values into practice. They are displayed by:
